Human Origins in Africa

All Hominids had a human like shape and stood upright
-Homo Habilis was known as the "man of skill" they made stone tools made out of lava rock they used these tools to cut meat and crack open bones.
-Homo Erectus was known as the "upright man" some anthropologists believe that homo erectus was intelligent enough to make technology and were smarter than homo habilis.
-Homo Sapiens were developed from homo erectus these species name for modern men there name actually means "wise men" they physically resembled homo erectus but had larger brains making them smarter.

The Paleolithic Age or the Stone Age brought the invention of tools, fire, and development of language it lasted from 2.5 million to 8000 B.C. The Neolithic Age or the New Stone Age began about 8000 B.C and ended about 3000 B.C it brought the invention of polished tools, pottery, crops and raising of animals.

Archaeologists are specially trained scientist who work like detectives to uncover the story of prehistoric people. Anthropologists examine the artifacts at archaeological digs they re-create a picture of early people's behavior. Paleontologists study fossils-evidence of early life preserved in rock.

Mary Leaky led to a scientific expedition to the region of Laetoli in Tanzania in East Africa. While Leaky was in Africa Johanson and his team were searching for fossils in Ethiopia about 1,000 miles to the north.

The reason Lucy is so important is because she was an unusually complete skeleton of an adult female hominid they nicknamed her after the song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds."

1) Artifacts allowed us to study the prehistoric age through objects such as stone knifes. Culture was what scientists called anthropologists study without that we would not know peoples unique way of life. Hominids were important because they were the first humans that stood upright such a australopithecine. The Paleolithic Age brought the invention of the first stone tool, the mastery of fire and the development of language. The Neolithic Age brought the raising of animals, polished tools and crops.
2) I think the most advanced hominid group was the homo sapiens because they where more advanced versions of the homo erectus and had larger brains.
3) The bones and artifacts determined how these people looked and how they behaved depending on the artifact.
4) The major achievements in the Stone Age were the invention of the first stone tools.
5) The way they differ is their brain size and body shape.
